Mariahilfer Strasse
Vienna newest pedestrian zone
Vienna's busiest shopping street
is now a tree-lined open-air mall
that cleverly combines the pleasures
of leisurely strolling, window shopping
or sitting in a sidewalk café,
watching the world go by
All of this - and more -
without a car whizzing by
Photographed with my mobile phone
the afternoon of 26 June 2015

ReplyDeleteIch bin gestern sehr entspannt in einem Straßencafe genau dort gesessen und habe die vorbeiflanierenden Menschenmassen betrachtet...

Oh, I wish I could be there. That is a gorgeous pedestrian mall.
ReplyDeleteThe first shot looks like a postcard.
What a way to spend the day.
Hope your weekend is wonderful.

ReplyDeleteI can repeat the Jim's words !
ReplyDeleteI must visit this beautiful town!
Have a good sunday Merisi !
i am sure drivers aren't happy but i love pedestrian zones ...
ReplyDeleteWell, they have plenty of alternative routes in Vienna and most people travel on the excellent public transport system anyway.
DeleteI sure would love to stroll down those streets.
ReplyDeleteThe weather looks cooler than here at home.
Today the temperature was 107F.
Too hot and I hate to see what my electricity bill will be. The air conditioning unit has been going for 24 hours straight. I can't sleep when it's too hot. Ugh!
Walking in Vienna is such a pleasure ..always a treat for the eyes and the tastebuds..loved just wandering from one side of the street to the other just enjoying everything :-)
