  9. Great in B&W, but I still prefer the deep vibrant colours and timber texture of the colour version and that beautiful fading into darkness!

The effect of color versus black and white is quite interesting, isn't it?

  13. Stunning! Elegant! The color shot is vibrant and wonderful and delicious - brings my focus to the food, the tastes. The black and white shot leaves me appreciating the elegance and care of the setting...the light and mood of the shot are so inviting. Thanks so much for linking up!

Did all the raspberry colored upholstery influence your tartlet choice in any way? Merisi, the lighting in the
first photo is sublime and I'm sure the raspberries were too.

    1. That's a good question!
Honestly, the subconscious mind did all the work. ;-)
In fact, I often notice only when I look at the picture later that somehow I have captured details that I was not necessarily aware of when pushing the shutter.

  20. Merisi, what a charming and cosy corner you've shown us. And the coffee and pastry has already been ordered. Thank you!

I do like the black and white still life version. It has the quality of a mezzontint, a printing technique I once aspired to mastering.

(That political billboard in the previous post is a real attention getter. Will it gather votes, too?)

    xo
P.S. Hoping you've been able to see those Park Ave. tulip pictures.

    1. Dear Frances,
yes, I managed to head over to your blog and follow you an your walk! Thank you so much of thinking of me when the Park Avenue tulips are appearing for their glorious spring show!
You are amazing, mezzotints are such a difficult craft to learn.
Regarding the political poster: who knows? It may rally the troops for the election in the fall.

    1. Thank you, Jim, for this magnanimous compliment!
I remember the lecture about Edward Weston's Pepper #30 as if it had happened yesterday (yes, I did my time in black and white film photography, even developing and printing).
