Free-Form Apple Pie at Casa Merisi
Made with Topfenblätterteig -
Austrian cream cheese pastry
similar to Rugelach dough,
given a turn or two, to form layers
of flaky dough
One More Outdoor Meal
The leaves and temperature keep falling,
but this being Vienna, patrons insist on dining al fresco,
wrapped in blankets against the autumn chill
Autumn Mood
Subdued colors under grey sky,
observed from an outdoor table
at Mochi's restaurant in Leopoldstadt,
only a bridge crossing from the historic center
Photographed October 2014

Oh, oh and oh, again, Merisi! This collection of October photographs present a perfect invitation to come and taste the pie, enjoy the gentle falling of golden leaves, while gazing at a surrounding palette of loveliness.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks. xo
Thank you so much, Frances! xxx
DeleteSweet shades of yellow.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Juju! :-)
DeleteI always love your 'she bakes' posts. wish you do more of it.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Anne, I will try to catch more of the food I make, before it's gone! This one I captured just in time ;-)
DeleteBeautiful autumn captures, Merisi!! Ah, and that apple pie looks scrumptious!! Hope your new week is off to a great start!!

DeleteThe pie did not last long in my house. ;)
A wonderful week to you, too,

We had great Indian Summer weather this year, temperatures have fallen now, though.
DeleteWiener Apfelkuchen? Have to check your blog! ;-)
I would LOVE to sit at a little cafe there and enjoy a piece of that!
ReplyDelete*smile*
DeleteI have now added "Casa Merisi" next to the apple pie, lest somebody shows up at Mochi and wants to order a slice of my pie. ;-)
That looks delcious! Autumn is the perfect Strudel-time!
ReplyDeleteThank you, and yes, it's true, autumn has the lushest apples for strudel and pie!
DeleteThat pie looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteHow long until we'll be finally able to tweet a slice? ;-)
DeleteThe dessert looks sensational. I would love to try it!
ReplyDeleteVery simple and not very sweet, the only sugar I used is the powdered one on top.
DeleteI fear the delicious food at Casa Merisi would undermine my attempts at a low carb life! Indeed, all Vienna would! But I can feast with my eyes.
ReplyDeleteI see the conundrum, clearly, staying off simple carbs and have the cake too! ;-)
DeleteYou could leave the powdered sugar off, how about that?
How beautiful Vienna is in it's autumnal finery. I would love to taste your home made Leckerbissen.
ReplyDeleteArija, I'd love nothing more than sharing the apple pie with you, right here!
DeleteHugs,
Merisi
