It is really purple, that is the original color from the 1860s, recently restored. The effect of the light reflecting off the wet fence makes it appear lighter than it is.
I just visited this post and the one before. Always such extraordinary beauty when I stop by. No desktop computer for past two weeks plus. So happy to have it back again~
