Viennese Shades of Grey
A five-story billboard next to Naschmarkt,
depicting Vienna's Vice-Mayor Maria Vassilakou
duct-taped to the wall, is causing a bit of a stir lately
What's it all about?
Venting about local politics -
the way I interpret it -
specifically the fraught relationship
between the mayor and the vice mayor on the wall
Everything's quiet
a few hundred feet from the billboard,
Life at the Naschmarkt
continues unperturbed

of 29 April 2015

It certainly is big. No matter the country, politicians will be petty and vindictive with each other.
ReplyDeleteAt least here is a bit of humour involved. Not that everyone wants to see it that way. Maybe not even the "cover girl". ;-)
DeleteAh, I do SO agree with William!!!

DeleteIt will be noticed. I overheard two politicians talking at the cafe today. They were planning to start a new political party, I might have benn the first person except for them to know about it. Time will tell.
ReplyDeleteExactly! ;-)
DeleteThe things one overhears in coffee houses! Next to my table, at what appeared like an editorial meeting of a local media outlet, a colleague and I overheard a conversation about procuring freebie photographs from bloggers who "are tickled pink to give them away", followed by loud laughter.
Well that's certainly made politics more exciting...

DeleteThat certainly is one interesting poster! Politics can be so entertaining sometimes.
ReplyDeleteIndeed! ;-)
DeleteThat billboard does get your attention. Lovely photos.
ReplyDeleteEveryone driving out west from the center of town passes by that billboard! ;-)
DeleteI'm sure no one here would mind if they duct-taped a real politician to a building (no one except the real politician of course).
ReplyDeleteNow that would be a nice idea for a new reality show, every Thursday night another politician! ;-)
DeleteAh, proper politics, with a Viennese humour, and the chance to puff a cigar, with refreshments.
ReplyDeleteLovely captures
This being Vienna at its very best! ;-)
DeleteI think the Mayor is doing her a favor with the duct tape, after all, she is up 5 stories and could fall.
ReplyDeleteLike your caring ways! ;-)
Deletewell at least she's smiling .. and my first thought 'what strong electrical (or as we in my house know it, Gaffer's) tape.
ReplyDeleteGarrison Keillor may have mangled my vocabulary! ;-)
DeleteHow interesting to see a bit of Viennese politics! I'd like to wander around that market.
