Stormy Weather
Mighty Föhn winds stormed across Austria yesterday,
raising temperatures to record heights
Belvedere reflecting pool, servants quarters,
and rows of apartment buildings at Prince-Eugen-Strasse
Strong wind gusts made it almost impossible
to hold the camera steady, but the light
was so mesmerizing, I took a long walk
up to the Belvedere, regardless the danger
of flying objects or being blown into the reflecting pool
Gustav Klimt's famous Kiss
Painted on a truck parked next to the
hornbeam hedge of the Belvedere servants' quarters
at the edge of the reflecting pool
Photographed at the Belvedere
on the afternoon of 10 January 2015

Thank you, Mersad!
DeleteYes the light looks amazing, excellent capture
ReplyDeleteIt was at least three hours of changing light!

Yes, it was irresistible! ;-)
DeleteTerrific captures, Merisi, as always!! Wonderful light, but it does look COLD and stormy!! Have a great week and stay warm!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sylvia, and a wonderful week to you, too!
DeleteI am living 80 km northern of Vienna but I saw the same colourful sky - it was magical! Never seen that before.

It was breath-taking and ever changing, wasn't it?
DeleteOn my way home, going west, there were billowy clouds on the horizon, tinted a dark lilac, against an orange and magenta sky. Unforgettable.
Gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful light in those conditions, Merisi!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! That second picture captures a moment that begs to be a whole story.
ReplyDeleteEven though the photos are beautiful I hate that this kind of weather happened in January, very bad odds according to me. It should have been snowed and cold
ReplyDeleteOh, it was bitter cold for a long period before and already on Sunday the temperatures were much lower, back to normal now. It was a weather fluke. Greetings, M. xx
DeleteThank you, brave Merisi, for holding that camera tightly and continuing your walk.
ReplyDeleteYour resulting photographs are spectacular. I can feel the strong winds swirling.
The final photo of Kiss-bearing truck and hedge is classic!
xo
Brave? *smile* Thank you!
DeleteIf something would have happened, if I would have agreed it was probably stupid being out in that weather. ;-) On the other hand, how could I not follow the call of the special light? ;-)
Love the second shot. The sky is phenomenal
ReplyDeleteWow!Really? I am going to set up instrument to measure wind speed for life in my courtyard. It will update me weather reports time to time.
