Demel's Cherry Strudel
The real thing, made with fresh strudel dough,
baked to perfection several times a day,
and a großer Schwarzer - a double shot of espresso -
served the Viennese way with a glass of water,
topped by a downturned spoon

ReplyDeleteEin Klassiker der Demel. Pflichtbesuch bei jeder Wienreise.
The owner really keeps the tradition going!
DeleteYUM! the sweetness and bitterness of strudel and espresso combined with the same in the newspaper. Perfect combination for tummy and mind.
ReplyDeleteDemel's strudels are just sweet enough, mostly a perfectly thin caramelized bottom crust.
DeleteI could go for a strudel
ReplyDeleteYou know there are also savory varieties?
DeleteCrawfish, spinach and fromage blanc. Just saying. ;-)
Oh, yes!! I haven't had breakfast and now I'm yearning for strudel!! I do agree with Jim, the perfect combination!! Have a great weekend, Merisi!!
