Wiesenblumen
I spotted this beautiful bouquet
of field flowers at the Culinary Heritage Fair -
Looking for the elusive "cuckoo flower"
I remembered a meadow I had once photographed,
in the Alpine mountains, 40 km south of Salzburg -
Sometimes the here and now takes you back to the past:
Here they are, old images,
captured with a pocket camera,
back in May 2008
Photographed in May 2008
with my little Sony Cybershot
in the countryside south of the city of Salzburg

Merisi isn't the only one to have found herself in Andrew Wyeth meadows under dark silver skies. But she's one who's inspired to capture and share them! ;-)
ReplyDeleteThank you, thank you for this immense honour! To even think of Andrew Wyeth, I feel deeply touched. My childhood was filled with just this kind of meadows, albeit in a flat landscape, followed by the Campagna Romana, which in later summer acquires that "burnt" quality of Wyeth's landscapes. My favourite Wyeth is probably "Breeze from the Sea", magical.
DeleteLovely bouquet of flowers. Picturesque meadows.
ReplyDeleteI felt very touched by that flower arrangement, it reminded me of the ones my mother loved to pick. On late spring evenings, she would take me on a walk along fields and meadows around our house. She taught me to look at the small things.
Deletelovely contrast to the city ... i especially love the bouquet .. and that old barn
ReplyDeleteYes, that area of Austria is breathtakingly beautiful.
DeleteOh my goodness! That place is breathtaking!
ReplyDelete*smile* Could not agree more! :-)
DeleteBeautiful flower bouquet... and the older pics are wonderful, even that ramshackle old barn.
ReplyDeleteI lost the original files shortly after, on a trip to Rome. The hard drive simply gave out, teaching me to back up (and probably ingrained the desire, to learn more about photography, technical side included ;-) )
DeleteThese are beautiful images! Over 40 years ago when I visited Salzbury as a child we went into the mountain meadows and picked wild flowers and then pressed them. They are still in a book somewhere but all the colour as disappeared from there so it was wonderful to see this lovely collection! Sarah x
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful memories! I spent my childhood summer with my grandparents in Salzburg, hence my affection for the city and the countryside there.
DeleteGorgeous. I want to jump into these.
ReplyDeleteI sort of did ;-)
Delete(The clouds were captured lying down in the meadow)
All of these take my breath away, Merisi! And I love that you made the bouquet really large, and the older photos small. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Amy! x
