the company goes back to the
beginning of the 19th century

Looking Up
On the other side
of the street, beautiful old façades
and contemporary Christmas illuminations,
stately arched windows complemented
by graceful curves swaying against the dark
Nighthawk
A lonely figure, a seemingly blank screen,
blue neon light spilling over the scene -
the man and the woman in Hopper's painting
have left the stage, long ago

Deletewith the high ceilings you have, one of those huge old chandeliers would look spectacular. Or over the table, a smaller one. There are those old Venetian ones, with colored baubles. I can see all that light that streams in, reflecting.

DeleteDeserted room, a solitary figure, alone … in the company of a smart phone, him staring at an empty screen, it oozes loneliness, wouldn't you agree? If Hopper would live today, would he or wouldn't he include a contemporary accessory as a symbol …. you know, when everybody's deserted you …. ;-)
