It is fun to people watch, isn't it, Merisi!! Wonderful captures for the day as always! I could use a cup of that espresso, too! Hope you have a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt was so hot, Sylvia, i could have jumped into the water or splurged on ice cream all day long. ;-)
DeleteWishing you a lovely weekend,
Merisi
I now know no sugar and white flour rule, so I am glad to see some ice cream ;-).
ReplyDeletePrime parking spot for the bicycle.
Gotscha! ;-)
DeleteI went through hell at Lake Maggiore, where they had a gourmet fair, the best food from all over Italy, and all I got was pure licorice (which I happen to like).
Hi Merisi , I have been to Trieste , with my cousins who live in GRado :-) we had a lovely but quick trip there.
ReplyDeleteI love Licorice :-)
I simply fell in love with Trieste and the splendid coast south of it.
DeleteItalians make the licorice, I'd say. ;-)
She went for a swim.
ReplyDeleteClever girl! :-)
DeleteMeresi, each photo is so special, but I especially like the ice cream/espresso one.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Amy! :-)
DeleteLooks like a lovely place! Gorgeous shots!
ReplyDeleteI loved the basilica and the archeological sights best, not to forget the coffee! ;-)
DeleteAffogato - we call that in the Netherlands iced coffee:) Delicious!
ReplyDeleteIced Coffee is offered here, too.
DeleteThe difference between the affogato and Viennese iced coffee is that here in Vienna they use COLD coffee, which brings out the bitterness of the filtered coffee (IMO).
Pouring freshly brewed hot espresso over ice cream tastes differently. Better, if you ask me. ;-)
In italy, even Granita di Caffe' - frozen coffee crystals - is made with espresso (early birds can observe baristas all over Italy brewing espresso after espresso and pouring it into flat pans to be semi-frozen, stirred again and again, until the crystals have the perfect consistency. Served with a dollop of whipped cream, a perfect summer treat.
Good morning my friend...looks like another beautiful start to my day, feasting upon the beauty from your vantage point. Getting ready to make my morning Mocha Coffee, oh I would so rather be there. Happy weekend~
DeleteWow, vanilla ice cream in hot expresso, looks and sounds great!!
ReplyDeleteTry it! Careful, though, you might get hooked. ;-)
DeleteOh Merise, I finally tried the affogato at a cafe here. Not an Italian cafe. I will find an Italian cafe to try it again because I was a little underwhelmed by it to be honest although staff were in awe of my ordering and consuming it. Apparently, it doesn't get ordered much. Perhaps that is the problem? Perhaps the owner of the blue towel went to get an affogato??? :)
ReplyDeleteIt works best with Italian gelato (made with milk, not cream, and not so cloyingly sweet) and a double shot of espresso . That is an espresso cup, in the picture, btw.
DeleteYou and Stefan may be right, both of you: after a refreshing swim, she decided she needed an affogato, too. ;-)
Looks yummy
ReplyDeleteI've never been but I'd love to go RIGHT now!
Love this first and the last photos, but I never mix coffee and ice cream!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the top composition, it's so clever! Love it.
ReplyDeleteMerisi, these images have brought cooling relief to this person who's still wilting in the NYC heat. We hear that The Thunderstorms might arrive later on today. We've heard that before.
ReplyDeleteHope prevails. xo
Instead of a cup of coffee, I'd like a bowl of gumbo please.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos; love the captions.
ReplyDeleteI love all the texture in these.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness ... where do I start!? The lovely water in the first photo ... aMAZing place to people watch ... and the vanilla scoop in the espresso? Sounds divine. I am SO trying that.
ReplyDeleteMarvelous photos that have a story to tell!
