Three Reasons why I was late, again
Viennese Moments

I was coming up the stairs
at Karlsplatz metro station
when I spotted this ...
Make of it what you want,
it stopped me in my tracks,
and I reached for my camera

Moments later,
this arresting scene
Aufgang gesperrt - Stairs closed

Emerging from the
metro station's underbelly,
I had this view of the Opera House
right in front of me.
Tell me, would you have stopped
for this one, too?

  1. It does not take much to stop you in your tracks and reach for your camera!

    1. I'll take that as a compliment. *grin*

  2. That is kind of weird. Not sure what it is.

    1. It's an anorak, hung over a weathered red and white wooden folding grille.

  3. YES!
I didn't even think Vienna had a subway much less an underbelly

    1. Oh dear, I suppose I should have said "the belly". ;-)

And yes, Vienna has several subway lines ->Vienna Subway.
They are numbered U1, U2, U3, U4, and U6. Line U5 is not expected to be built before 2020.

  4. I think I would ponder the top. What is the "item"... a discarded coat or garment or a person trying to climb the fence?

  5. Yes... I would have stopped for all of these (and pulled out my camera, too!)

  6. Oh, yes, I would have done the same thing!! I think all of us who have gotten "hooked" on photography are guilty of the same thing -- well, guilty isn't the right word for such fun!! Is it???

  7. Yes, I would have stopped to capture those quirky images even if there had been a crowd around me jostling and rushing on into a busy day.

  8. Merisi, I would have stopped to take a look at each of those views, and most likely would not have had a camera with me. It would all have layered into some personal visual memory that I'd have wished to see again.

How much better to see that you did see these views and had your camera with you, and that you shared it all with us.

    Thank you! xo

  10. By the time I reached the third one, I'd have called in sick to work and kept walking and taking pictures instead! 8-)
