It is Monday, and we might as well
Summer's still lingering in our mind,
and so is chocolate cake

Afternoon of a Swan
When on a late Nachsommer afternoon
the light changes and turns limpid,
and the evening's gold grows vaguely perceptible,
the faithful swan waits for her beloved by the shore

As the sun slips beyond
the mountain peaks,
the swan hears a call,
and sets out on her journey home

The joruney goes on,
first into the blue hour,
then beyond the lake
through the mountains,
on to the valley of the River Traun

where, on the right bank of the river,
we indulge in chocolate cake and coffee,
before we say adieu to late summer evening's light

  1. Where is Vienna in all this?
(I ask, before anyone else gets a chance.)
Well, only two and half hours away. You know, Viennese escapes, Merisi style. ;-)

A wonderful Monday to all of you,
    Merisi
