Morning at the Strudlhof Steps
A Walk in Alsergrund

The Early Morning Sun
Heralding the city's slow awakening
From the shadows of the night.

First Rays
Alighting on oleander blossoms, while
Chestnut leaves are already basking
in full sun.

Caryatid
Kissed tenderly into the light

Shadow Graffiti
Kunst des Augenblicks

Stone Flowers and Spheres
Caressed here and there
by forelorn rays

Peekaboo
Who's hiding under the bench?

White Hibiskus Flowers
Against blue-green fence

The Strudlhof Steps are named after
-> Peter Strudel (ca. 1660 - 4 October 1714)
an Austrian sculptor and painter:
"Peter Strudel died in Vienna at the age of approximately 55 years. He is still commemorated by the street name Strudlhofgasse in Alsergrund where his house used to stand. The Strudlhofstiege staircase in this lane, together with the Palais Strudlhof earned fame through the book Die Strudlhofstiege by Heimito von Doderer."

  4. I am imagining that my bedroom is behind the windows in the second photo. I wake up, open the window (door?) and step out to the balcony.......
