We stopped at a McCafe once and the sweet kid behind the counter probably spent five minutes making sure the swirly pattern in my cappuccino was perfect...his decision, not my request. But, yes, the coffee was surprisingly good, and in a real cup! Perhaps there is hope for civilization....
Yesterday, I had one coffee at Angelina's in Paris while my daughter had their special hot chocolate. Earlier in the day, we had visited L'Opéra and seen Eva Besnyö's photo exhibit at "Jeu de Paume". We enjoyed both !!! A great day indeed !!! Marie-Noëlle
What a delightful day, Marie-Noëlle! I'd take Angelina's any day if I had the choice. The same here in Vienna, I chose the traditional coffeehouse whenever I can. I am glad, though, to be able to stop at 7:00 AM at this McCafé just off the bike path along the Vienna River, and wind down, after an hour's bike ride, with a good cup of coffee and a newspaper before I head home.
Do I see a real coffee cup & saucer and a glass, not a cup, of water. I'm jealous. They brew, surprisingly, a very good cup of coffee here in the US. Sam
Yes, china cup and saucer, water glass, even a little tray! ;-) Driving down I-95 I had the one or other cup of good coffee at McDonald's, albeit in a paper cup. It was fine, though, after all I wanted to take it out.
Merisi, I have heard that McD's coffee is good, but have yet to try it myself. I really don't much like drinking coffee from a paper cup, and so rarely, rarely have any coffee "to go."
Where is the silver tray? Perhaps your cup was served, just this once, on a tray of plastic?
Not only that, Sue: they also have really good French macarons (yes, made in France, I am told, by a French company that also owns the venerable Maison Ladurée)! ;-)
And it's NOT in a paper cup!
ReplyDeleteExactly! ;-)

ReplyDeleteMaybe you have to order Coffee Melange, then you get not only really good coffee, but it comes also without complicated designs on top. ;-)
DeleteE-I-E-I-Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh !!!!

I don't like coffee but sometimes so wish I did.
ReplyDeleteI love both coffee and tea, depending on the time of day.
DeleteGood morning Merisi, may your day be nothing but marvelous~
ReplyDeleteAnd yours, too, Mary! xxx

McCafé serves coffee on little plastic trays. One can't have it all, I suppose.
DeleteI do love the real cup for the coffee and a real glass of water!! I truly do get tired of PAPER!! Delightful post as always, Merisi!! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI am with you, and not only on this one! xxx
DeleteI'd love to sit and relax in this kind of McD serving coffee with a little latte art in a cup, yup I do agree with Sylvia, paper cups is tiring. :(
ReplyDeleteI see where you are coming from .... ;-)
DeleteCan they do that with beer?
ReplyDeleteDoes McDonald's even have beer???
DeleteI would not be surprised. ;-)
Now, that would be my type of McDonalds.
ReplyDeleteCeramic cups and glasses and silverware.
Looks great.

DeleteI so want a cuppa coffee!!
ReplyDeleteWell set shot - coffee, newspapers and a shade!
All b/w treated...! Love this shot : )
Cheers,
Firas
Thank you, Firas!
DeleteWho would have thought?
ReplyDeleteIndeed! :-)))
DeleteIf only the fast food places around here had half the class.
ReplyDeleteWho knows, coming soon, a McCafé in your neighbourhood! ;-)
DeleteWell, good! And if it's anything like the McDonald's here, it stays hot for hours, the better to enjoy the paper!
ReplyDeleteTrust me, Sandy, I am not fast food friend, but McCafés do a really fine job.
