Viennese Escapes
Prince Eugene's Schloss Hof

In the Gardens
of Prince Eugene of Savoy's
country estate, Schloss Hof

On the horizon
beckons another country, Slovakia

A plum orchard
alongside the main building

I spied many a plum whispering
"I'll soon be ripe and ready!"

A walk through the gardens
of Prince Eugene's country estate
means experiencing summer at its very best,
like entering a dream and sailing on clouds

Photographed 1 August 2012
in the gardens of Prince Eugene of Savoy's Schloss Hof Summer Palace
An hour's drive from his Viennese Belvedere Palace, going eastwards

  1. Hello Merisi, Ingrid here from the Travelling tea pot blog. Thanks for touching base. Priscilla is not back to the USA. BTW, I love Vienna. Try to stay at least 1 night on stop overs with a friend every time I travel in Europe. Not this year, but next year for sure. So liebe Gruesse von Kanada, von einer ex Kaertnerin aus Villach, Ingrid

  2. As I made my way to Prince Eugene's Schloss Hof
I had to give a quick cough.
No matter that I gave my hat a doff.
She thought I was a complete toff.
    She even began to lauf
    Hahahahahahahaha
    I scoffed
    And ran off
    In a huff.
Never more will I venture to Prince Eugene's Schloss Hof.

A slew of clouds cover the perfect pedestals.

  9. Beautiful photos, Merisi. When we were there last spring it was so cold and uncomfortable. Would like to go back and see it the way you did.

  17. Wow, I'm not sure which is more beautiful, that sky or what lies beneath it! They go beautifully together, that's for sure. I love these photos! My favorites are the second one of the statue with Slovakia beyond (that is just a perfect photograph!) and the last one, with the stunning contrast between the white marble (?) and intricate black metal railings. So eye-catching!

It looks like you enjoyed a gorgeous day for strolling Prince Eugene's gardens; the only thing missing was fully ripened plums. :-)
