I can almost hear the hoofs on the streets!
ReplyDeleteI've missed my blog visits ... finally get back around to see everyone.
Hope you are well!
Welcome back! :-)
DeleteI love the photo of the blue and white fiaker and the lady with the blue jacket and blue/black tights. "Interesting" outfit...
ReplyDeleteVienna's never boring, isn't it? ;)
DeleteLove the blue stripped tights matching the blue fiaker!
ReplyDeleteKarmic destiny!!
Serendipity. ;-)
DeleteZaczarowana dorożka,
ReplyDeleteZaczarowany dorożkarz,
Zaczarowany koń.
Which means: an enchanted cab (the vehicle), an enchanted fiaker (the driver), an enchanged horse. It's a fragment of a poem by a Polish poet Konstanty Ildefons Gałczyński. The poem is about Krakow fiakiers, not that far from Vienna.
Thank you, Zosia! :-)
DeleteMerisi, I love these, love horses, living here in horse country USA. In editing my friends photos, I may have seen these very same horses and carriages and yet there were crowds of people around on her visit. These are lovely! I always enjoy very much, the lighting that is shown in your lovely images...a rare treat to accomplish~
ReplyDeleteThe sun was setting after a hot day, the coachmen (and women!) were dousing the horses with water by the pailful. The light was magical.
DeleteThe beautiful light! (And that's quite an outfit on the person in striped tights!)
ReplyDeleteIndeed! :-)
DeleteNow that's the kind of traffic I could be in all day. Lovely photos, Merisi.
ReplyDeleteThe clippety-clop sound of a horse's hoofs hitting the cobblestones sure beats noise from car traffic!
DeleteThe stuff of fairytales!
ReplyDeleteThere are instances when I feel as if I were in one. ;-)
DeleteThe stuff of fairy tales indeed! You do live in a fairy tale city, Merisi! Love your captures as always!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sylvia! :-)
DeleteNow that is a 'rush hour' I could live with! Such beautiful horses and carriages - and the cobblestone streets are lovely, too. I love the photo with the two white horses nuzzling, so sweet. Yes, some interesting fashions there, too! Beautiful. xx
ReplyDeleteI have watched and photographed those two horses often, and they always seem to get along very well.
DeleteI've always wanted to take one of the horse carriages down in the French Quarter. One of these days!
ReplyDeleteI have been contemplating a Fiaker ride for years now, same with a gondola ride in Venice. Somehow it remains in the realm of fantasy, which is not a bad thing, after all.
DeleteWonderful shots of the horses pulling buggies. It is a beautiful place.
