Monday's Rose
Morning in the City

Schlaftrunken
noch die Stadt

The city's still half asleep.
In the distance, a nightingale,
closer by, an Amsel sings,
and a rose petal holds on
to the last drop of last night's rain

while the young day
hurries off with last night's dreams

    1. That is my favorite of them all, the Polar Star rose, her heart is full of times gone by.
I visit her as often as I can.
I feel honored that you like my poem. Thank you! :-)

    1. The statue is part of one of the fountains in architect Friedrich Ohmann's memorial for Elisabeth, Empress of Austria. Here are a few more pictures:

  4. Your early morning hour photography makes me almost want to go walking with my camera in the early morning. Just lovely thoughts of the young day and the last night's dreams.
