Rose moon sounds lovely. I didn't know about those various names.
ReplyDeleteWhile I am quite familiar with Northern American Indian names, I did not know about Rose moon until recently.
DeleteThat is truly beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI looked out the window and had to get the camera to capture the scene. xxx
DeleteGreat shot. Moons aren't the easiest things to photograph. They are so pretty and I'm constantly amazed at how much light they put out. It can almost seem like daytime.
ReplyDeleteIn the Bahamas they were called Moon Tides and they brought extremely high and low tides so it was very important to tie your boat up properly. You could also go to places at high tide that weren't navigable other times of the year. It also wasn't unusual to see 40' sailboats with 5 or 6 foot drafts hard aground at low tide that time of the year. It is said one must have patience in order to sail. (smile)

Mighty moon, reigning supreme! :-)
DeleteSplendid! This is really beautiful. Have a wonderful weekend. Blessings...Mary
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mary,
Deletea wonderful Sunday to you too! xxx
Merisi, I love each of those moon names, and hope that tonight's forecast clouds will not provide too heavy a veil. How I enjoy gazing up at a full moon, wondering why others walking past me on the sidewalk do not share this enthusiasm.

Maybe it's in the genes! ;-)
DeleteHope you had a good view of the moon last night.
The moon shone in my bedroom window last night. It spilled across my bed and the room was like daytime. It was so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love all the magical names for the moon. Perhaps it should be called the Bedroom Moon. (:0)
Love the Bedroom Moon! ;-)
DeleteThe scene you described reminds me of Edward Hopper's "Boy and Moon".
I love the phrase, "rose moon." Never heard it before.
ReplyDeleteVery poetic, isn't it?
DeleteThis is amazing. Looks almost painted. Great shot!
ReplyDeleteThe grainy texture of high ISO is not always a minus. ;-)
DeleteIt was a beautiful moon last night...it was hazy here too. I love your photograph; it is not easy to capture the moon.
ReplyDeleteI rarely ever try to capture the moon, leaving it to people with appropriate lenses, but this one, I could not resist, the light was so magical. I don't remember a night like this, almost blue (even more so last night).
DeleteGorgeous! :)
