Under the Chestnut Trees
Vienna in Spring

Church Steeple
dressed in the spring finery
of horse chestnut blossoms

White Shades drawn
against the glaring light

Church Portal
and façade are still in the shade,
but sunlight from the east
illuminates the interior

Walking to work

You know that the seed is inside the horse-chestnut tree;
and inside the seed there are the blossoms of the tree,
and the chestnuts, and the shade

  1. Reminiscent of "April in Paris . . . " Chestnuts in blossom are always a glorious sight with their deep, deep shade. Vienna is certainly well dressed.

  2. Merisi, morning light and your eye make such fine companions. These early May morning pictures could encourage anyone to wake up a bit sooner each day, and then quickly get outdoors!

    Chestnut trees are rather wonderful. xo

  4. Arija,
    Vienna's awash in blooming chestnut tress, white and pink ones.
