Annechung: I have seen cream-filled donuts in bakeries! I love them the traditional way (even though I learned to make them, through many trials and errors, in Washington, DC).
Lindsay @ our view from Wien: Funny thing, I learned the hard way how to make them, back in Washington, DC - only because there were no Krapfen available there. When I moved to Vienna, the first year I let Fat Tuesday pass without making Krapfen, simply bought them at the bakery. Did not feel the same. Made my own on Ash Wednesday. ;-)
A wonderful apparition!
ReplyDeleteDo those have a filling?
ReplyDeleteVicki Lane,
ReplyDelete*smile*
Once a year I make sure they walk right out of my kitchen to pose. ;-)
Alan,
yes, they are filled with finest apricot jam, made by the Darbo company. ;-)
Do you have a recipe? Those look divine!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite are the cream filled doughnuts, these look like the kind!
ReplyDeleteMargarita,
ReplyDeleteI found this recipe online:
Sacher's Viennese Carneval Donuts (I use 50g of dough for each donut).

Is it that time again, already?
ReplyDeletePerhaps it means that Spring is coming!
Ich möchte einen Faschingskrapfen und ein Kaffee Melange, bitte.
ReplyDeleteWow, Merisi! You made those?! This inspires me! Well, all of your work inspires me, really :-)
ReplyDeleteSushiandstrudel:
ReplyDeleteHope is eternal! ;-)
Hexe,
bitteschön, kommt sofort, Gnä' Frau!
(A waiter recently said Fräulein, I almost fell off the chair!)

Yes please, just wondering how you pronounce it.
ReplyDeleteMerisi - wenn ich nur könnte (sigh!).
ReplyDeleteI would love to have a couple of these. They look delicious!
ReplyDeleteOMG! Scrumptious-looking!
ReplyDeleteEllee,
ReplyDeleteI'd say "crap-faen" - I have some in my freezer, but am not allowed to eat them. ;-)
Hexe,
das wär' zu schön, nicht wahr?
I could offer you a cup of tea and Krapfen by the open window - you'd love the icy draft! ;-)
Paz,
thanks! :-)
Oh, perfection Merisi! I would pass on every chocolate in the world to eat one of these babies. They are a miracle! (And alot of hard work.)
