Beautiful shots~love the colors!
ReplyDeleteHere is another place I've got to visit.
ReplyDeleteMerisi, those are just glorious. The poppy is our state flower but it is golden ( more like orange, really ). I've seen red ones before but nothing like these beautiful ones!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I particularly like the white and purple ones. I do have a soft spot for poppies. But I am curious: are they grown for a specific reason?
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! We live in such a beautiful country...
ReplyDeleteJann,
ReplyDeletethank you!
Annechung,
make sure you come in July!
Splendid Shutters,
it is, indeed.
RNSANE,
I have seen huge fields of red poppies in the countryside around Rome, but this was the first time I encountered pastel colors.
Simona:
Yes, they are cultivated for their seeds (it is a "grey" variety, very tasty and the region is know for the various culinary uses of this heirloom variety).
Country Girl,
I agree! It is almost as if their is at least a miniature version of any landscape imaginable in Austria. And, having lived in the States before, everything here seems so close by. ;-)
Magical poppy fields!
ReplyDeleteWonderful colors and such a fragility...
Amelia:
ReplyDeleteYes, indeed, such fragility, and yet such strength too: I watched a bud opening and the petals bursting forth, magic!
Oooooooooooooh! My favourite flowers!
ReplyDeleteLovely. A bit surprised that the poppies are purply-pink and not red.
ReplyDeleteLove so much poppies, Merisi, they are gorgeous and with delicate petals.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pictures
ReplyDelete!!!
And a moughful of a title...ahem :)
Every time I see a poppy - I think of John McCrae poem, In Flanders Fields
ReplyDeleteIn Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

Oh Merisi, they are just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteEspecially the first shot.
I've never grown an oriental poppy - I wonder if it is too late to sow some now.
Thank you all! I need to run now, but will be back with answers in the afternoon (Letizia, you should be in time, it is a summer flowering plant, after all).
ReplyDeleteA wonderful day to all of you,
Merisi
I have never seen such colors, here they are always red
