Coffee, Anyone?
Viennese Mélange
at Café Hawelka

"... the Café Hawelka,
completely downmarket.
I have always detested
the typical Viennese coffeehouse,
famous the world over,
because I find everything
about it inimical to me."
Thomas Bernhard,
"Wittgenstein's Nephew"

Café Hawelka
Dorotheergasse

Still downmarket,
but excellent coffee! ;-)

  6. Merisi, let me second Carol's enthusiatic comment, and add that I've also loved seeing the summer in Vienna photos from the prior post.

Gosh, I could go a bit further and say that your posts never strike a wrong note.

    Bravo! xo

  8. Thank you all! :-)

    Amelia,
"inimical" - that was typical Thomas Bernhard!
He, who spent lots of time in coffeehouses, like the Bräunerhof and Sacher. ;-))))

  12. If this is down market wherefore our local corner caffs?

Those thick white cups holding the creamy rich coffee [I smell it from here] the silverware and crisp white napkin...no plastic spoons or wafer thin paper here.
