San Marco
ready to emerge
from the morning mist
Scents of Coffee
the hissing of a steamed-up espresso maker,
the comforting noise
of a spoon laid on a saucer,
stimulating olfactory senses
and then the collective sigh
of Java addicts around San Marco,
savouring that first sip of black gold

What a calming, beautiful collection of images!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Martha
I love the first picture. The light is incredibly interesting in this one!
ReplyDeleteThanks for my daily pictures!
Martha,
ReplyDeletethank you!
Elisabeth,
it was very early in the morning,
the sun had risen above the horizon, but the air was still misty.
It's a strange phenomenon. When I enjoy your lovely photos, I always smell the coffee!
ReplyDeleteLove your photography.
ReplyDeleteDear Merisi,
ReplyDeletelovely Venice pictures!!!
We had a good mist today. But no coffee so far. Just water and peanuts for me this morning.
ReplyDeleteMerisi, with these photographs, you have made me enter a dream of a Venetian morning.
ReplyDeleteHow I would love to visit that paper shop. I'm wondering if I did actually visit it when I actually was in Venice so long ago.
My memories have become a bit like dreams....
Catching up on your posts -- so nice to be in Venice again! That facade of San Marco is one of my favorite memories of the city. And your capture of the sparrow -- outstanding!
ReplyDeleteThank you all for coming along on my dreams! ;-)
ReplyDeleteTo the reader who wrote about the Bridge of Sigh:
This is an actual photo, no collage, no Photoshop layers (I'd know how to do them, but I would not possibly have the time to create collages for the blog).
The bridge image looks the way it does because it was surrounded by scaffolding that had been used as a billboard, creating the "sky" all around illusion.
A wonderful evening to all of you,
Merisi
Your pictures are really inviting...
ReplyDeleteand make me dream too...
From my little corner though, I would swap Berlusconi with Kim Rossi, so that my dream is complete !!!
;)

ReplyDeleteYour photos always make me want to sit and have a lovely cup of coffee with you.
ReplyDeleteAhhh....
Venise, like a dream, I love this town ! Have you seen my photos while november ?
ReplyDeleteThe coffee at Florian's bar is a good idea !
Wonderful week-end to you !
San Marco looks just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteA marvellous view in the misty morning of the Dôme of San Marco cathedral.
ReplyDeletegorgeous pictures as always...I soooooo want to go to that paper store!
ReplyDeleteIf I was a bird, I would sit up in those beautiful snowflake shaped things on top of that roof!
ReplyDeleteOh I love stamps and handmade paper. If I ever get to Italy I'll find this place!
ReplyDeleteI gotta say drinking coffee in Vienna looks WAY BETTER to me any day of the week then in Venice.
ReplyDeleteWhere pray tell is the glass of water with spoon lurking over head?
Paris Breakfast:
ReplyDeleteCarol, that was the morning's paper with a picture of Berlusconi - and his silhouette in the coffee cup. ;-)
Oh, that gorgeous San Marco! Who says Less is More-- not me.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I spent about 10 seconds trying to pick up that cup of coffee to take a sip...reality thy name is camera!
ReplyDeletehugs
Sandi
Vicki Lane,
ReplyDeleteone more week, and I'll take more pictures for you!
