Vienna in Winter
Looking up at the Opera House

Looking Up
on a cloudy sky
over the Vienna State Opera
Opernring

The scenes on stage
may be more dramatic,
but looking up when walking
by the opera house has
its own rewards, doesn't it?

  1. That looks to be an example of an interesting variety of altocumulus cloud called mammatus. It often occurs around heavy rain or a thunderstorm - I hope you had your umbrella :-)

  3. A little ominous -- was Wagner playing? Cue the Valkyries!

  5. Maalie,
    thank you!
I don't remember whether it rain afterwards,
I took the picture back in January. ;-)

    Saz,
moody skies always look better in pictures than right overhead, don't they? ;-)

    Vicki Lane,
    serendipity!
I had the exact same thought, looking up,
Wagner and Valkyries, who else? ;-)

    Tess Kincaid,
    unfortunately yes,
    and again, today! :-(
