'Im Salzkammergut, da kammer gut lustig sein...' There are a number of places in this world that my heart swells at the mere mention of and the Alps around Salzburg and the Salzkammergut is definitely one of them.
Dear Readers, thank you all for your kind comments!
Bee, contrary to what it may seem, temperatures are springlike, from Vienna all the way to the Inn River, at the Bavarian border, where I traveled this weekend.
The snow is melting, the southern exposed meadows are already clear.
The hills, from which I photographed, may be some of the most pristine and beautiful in Upper Austria, with small hamlets and small and big old family farms and woods.
I am always amazed that the view from there can extend all the way to the Salzkammergut region and Berchtesgarden in Germany. The mountain peaks are about an hour's drive away, along country roads winding their way past rural areas and large woods.
Arija, I feel the same: I spent many a happy summer day with my grandparents in Salzburg and around the Salzkammergut lakes. It seemed like paradise then, and it does now.
This was just lovely, a painting or perhaps a pastel. So talented, Merisi.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing that you captured such a fiery sky in such a cold, cold place!
