Such a wonderful work of art - how on earth did those hearts get up there? Are they helium? Did they float up and get tangled in the branches in this random pattern? I'm soaking up your Christmassy photos of Vienna and getting tips of where to go for our trip there in a couple of weeks!
Merisi, I enjoyed reading the link that you provided. How wonderful for Vienna to take a space in front of a gorgeous building and reclaim it for the Christmas season as a place to delight children of all ages.
As always, your photos got my attention and admiration.
Magic in Vienna ... so many magicians are waving their wands, or cameras, and lending their words.
Thank you all for your kind comments, they truly warmed my heart!
Anna, I was thinking of you, on my way to buy tea at Demmer's, walking by the Burgtheater and Rathausplatz. I rushed down to City Hall, to get a last glimpse of the tree, just before the winter sun disappeared for good.

Karen,
ReplyDeletethe "Heart Tree" goes back to an idea by artist Gerry Gam: Here is a link to the official webpage of the City Hall "Christkindlmarkt".
I read only recently, that it is a favorite of lovers, engagements and even weddings have been celebrated around it.
Charles Gramlich,
this particular Christmas market is a joy to behold for small children and the young at heart alike!
Wandering Star,
yes, indeed!
Beatriz,
it is a delight, isn't it?
Beautiful! We have lots of hearts on our Christmas tree too -- mostly of red or red print fabric.
ReplyDeleteInteressant die Geschichte mit Gerry Gam! Habe das nicht gewusst!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful. I can't help but wonder who shimmied up those branches to attach them! :)
ReplyDeleteHow Lovely
