and a dreamy expression
Dreaming,
perchance, of hopping
on a red Vespa
and riding
to the next coffeehouse?
Asking for
un buon caffé con la panna?
Espresso with whipped cream,
that is.
Are you coming
along?

In the mood for a ride on a Vespa?
Watch these scenes from Nanni Moretti movies,
the great Italian actor director driving through Rome,
beyond the usual tourist destinations:
"Il Diario" (one of my favorite movies ever!) and
"Aprile" (with a "sweet" finale,
perfect with un caffé con la panna!).
Enjoy! :-)

Good morning Merisi, I definitely need that caffé!!! Terrific pics!!! ... as usual!
ReplyDeleteThe espresso with whipped cream is tempting....is there room for me on the Vespa?
ReplyDeleteThank you, Colores,
ReplyDeletemay you find a great cup of coffee!
The coffee in the picture was had by a friend of mine.
My panna days are over, but I have fond memories of sneaking caffé con panna at Café Latour in Rome, near the Ginori Store on Via Cola di Rienzo. Unfortunately, that place is long gone, but memories of their black coffee essence served in a cappuccino cup and then topped with the most delicious hand whipped cream ever will linger forever (and that early 20th Century interior, what a sin that it was destroyed!).
Btw, Italians never ever drink "espresso" coffee, it is simply "un caffé" - try that, the next time you are in Italy. The barista will almost take you for a native!
Wait for me! I'm on my way! What a perfect way to start a Monday morning as I sit here with my cup of coffee! A great escape, thanks!
ReplyDeleteTheresa Cheek,
ReplyDeletesure! Hop on and via! ;-)
I have added two links to the post,
Vespa rides through Rome with Nani Moretti.
Dear Merisi, Have you sent me your address? Did I miss it somehow? You won my little lozenge shaped tile.
ReplyDeleteI will be in France soon and can send it to you from Paris.
Please leave your address in my Etsy shop.

Juju,

the vespa and the mannequin make me think of the movie, "Mannequin." That dreamy expression, I guess.
ReplyDeleteCharles,
ReplyDeleteI'll have to look that movie up!
I realized only now - by chance - that I had typed "espression" - must have been the Italian in me who could not cope with the "x". *giggles*
Wait! I'm coming!
ReplyDeleteWillow,
ReplyDeletelucky you,
still time to join us! :-)
I apologize to Nanni Moretti (and his fans)
for having erroneously attributed Nanni's movies to "Mario Moretti" - I have corrected the post.
Sincerely,
Merisi

I swear you make me wish I drank coffee!
ReplyDeleteMerisi -
ReplyDeleteI've missed you! But the wonderful thing is that I can enjoy many posts at once when I return. I always call my husband in to look with me, and I say,"Now, let's take a walk through Vienna." I must e-mail you soon.
Catherine
I would love a ride on that red Vespa. Red is my favourite colour after all and riding through the streets on such a sassy bike would be an adventure.
ReplyDeleteGood afternoon Merisi, the face looks a little bit like Joan Crawford, would you agree... The little red Vespa looks like it would be great fun along those narrow winding roads~ Have a delightful and safe week~
ReplyDeleteThe Vespa is dragging...
ReplyDeleteI'm on it too :)
Paris Breakfast:
ReplyDeleteBetter fasten your seatbelt, it's going to be faster than you think! ;-)
Thank you all for your wonderful comments -
they make me smile.
Yours,
Merisi
I would LOVE to paint the town red with you. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the bright red Vespa! Yours?
ReplyDeleteThis brightened up the evening here, Merisi. Bella.
ReplyDeleteciao-meow
Love these pops of red! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteVicki Lane,
ReplyDeleteno, not mine.
Wished .... ;-)
I recently saw a shiny mocca colored one, espresso brown. Loved it!
Giulia,
I am glad it did. :-)
A Brush of Color:
Thank you! :-)
The architecture on the last picture is great
ReplyDeleteAfter riding in numerous taxis in Rome, I would consider taking a Vespa through the streets of Rome suicide.
ReplyDeleteOla,
ReplyDeleteit's one my favorite sights!
Alan,
all those years living there, I never once dared to ride on a Vespa. Alas, most of my Roman friends think nothing of it. ;-)
Love the color story you're telling here with the sequence of REDS in each pic!
ReplyDeleteBRAVO
J'aime toujours venir chez toi, pour les beaux clichés que nous offre, de plus, tu me mets l'eau à la bouche avec cette vespa rouge : mon rêve !!!
ReplyDeleteI love all the pops of red.
ReplyDeleteYes, I love your "color" story, too, and what delightful captures for the day, Merisi!! Fun post! Hope you have a great weekend! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteBeep. Beep.
ReplyDeleteCiao, Bella!
Love so much "Il Diario", it is one of my favorite movies ever too! Love the music of the film so much. The first chapter, when he is driving through Rome is just fantastic!
