Yes, Coffee. Pleeease!
"Armer Hund"
"Poor Fellow"
Literally: Poor Dog

Whenever I happen to run
from St. Stephen's Cathedral
along Rotenturmstrasse,
I look for this darling stuffed dog,
part of a varied collection
of stuffed bears and toys
of the owner of this exquisite
antiques and interior store.
I thank him at each and every visit
from the bottom of my heart
for his sweet and witty exhibition
of toys.
I also love his superb
selection of antique and new bentwood furniture,
including designs by Josef Hoffmann,
Adolf Loos and Koloman Moser,
manufactured by Thonet and Kohn.
Gone to the dog
not necessarily a harsh fate
here in Vienna!

What a sweet collection of animals to brighten any day!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute!!! In Afrikaans we say.."Arme hond"...almost the same...
ReplyDeleteHow delightful! Brought a smile to my face (and it hasn't worn one for weeks, as I have nursed and lost a very sick animal). Thanks for allowing us to share your life in Vienna, it is much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteLove the boating bears!
ReplyDeleteDear Merisi, you make me smile in spite of myself!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!! You are simply a most wonderful and treasured friend!
ReplyDeleteThese photos are so delightful...you have such a gift for capturing not only the most beautiful images, but also the most heartwarming. That stuffed dog is so adorable!
Love you! Janine XO
Have you ever read that English comic classic, Three Men in a Boat? This is Three Bears in a Boat! Nothing like a furniture seller with a sense of whimsy . . . and ambiance.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of coffee in Paris, the young Parisians were thronging the Starbucks in St. Germain. Maybe for the Wi-Fi? Funny, isn't it?
Am 62 years young and I still have my stuffed favs from my childhood. That little dog is really cute as are the other stuffed friends of this collector. Have a wonderful weekend~
ReplyDeleteLove these souvenirs from your bear run, Merisi. The bears transport me back to golden innocent days, your photos keep me firmly rooted in the artisty you grant us with every post.
