The Emperor's Palm House
Its windows still reflecting
remnants of the evening's sunlight
The Equestrian Statue
Prince Albrecht riding
away from his Albertina Palais
into the sunset
Magnolia Blossoms
in what was once the emperor's
private garden,
reluctant to let go of
the day's glow
A Plane Tree
in its spring finery
Magnolia Branches
reaching into the spent sky,
the steeple of St. Augustine
fading into the distance

Happy Easter Merisi, I wish I was spending Easter in Vienna.
ReplyDeleteYour last photograph looks like a Japanese screen, I love the way you have caught the bird in flight.
acornmoon,
ReplyDeletethat bird almost escaped. ;-)
Happy Easter to you too!
Wonderful as always! That last one with the bird -- the fleeting poignant beauty of Spring...
ReplyDeleteMerisi, how beautifully soft your Vienna is today. Such gentle light with spring veritably bursting through.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment and friendship. I have been in severe pain lately, I have looked in on your blog but at times could not get my brain into gear to leave a comment.
Have a wonderful Easter with all the beauty of spring all around you.
Alles Gute, Arija
Thank you, Vicki!
ReplyDeleteToday it is back to all blue skies,
and I am contemplating an early escape from the desk.
At least, I am thinking about it .... ;-)
Arija,
I am so sorry to hear that you have not been well!
Please do not worry about leaving comments, as much as I enjoy reading them, I understand fully that we all have times when it is not possible to drop a note, for one reason or another. I do hope you are feeling better and will be able to enjoy a painfree Easter!
Ah...you caught a bird in flight in one photo.. a lovely surprise... Thank you for stopping by.. Arija is correct in her observations... Michelle
ReplyDeleteSo many Magnolias already!
ReplyDeleteWhere are the cupcakes?
Thanks for the magnolia blossoms! I grew up in the South and they are a wonderful part of my childhood memories - along with mimosa trees! You site is so peaceful and calming. And I so love the little poem...Emily Dickinson, sigh. Hope is the thing with feathers....
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter Season to you!
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter Merisi!
I feel like I'm there. I especially like the last photo..."reaching into the spent sky". :)
ReplyDeleteI would love to be in Vienna for Easter. Those magnolias are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThe light is so beautiful in these. The magnolia is so soft and delicate, too. So much spring. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter!
Spring is a lovely time of year. Those budding branches look devine.
ReplyDeleteSigh. The palm house is one of my favourite buildings in Vienna. We spent a lovely hour sitting in the garden next to the Palm House last summer. It makes me want to be back there! You lucky thing Merisi!
ReplyDeleteThe Plane Tree has beautiful blossoms - happy Easter, Merisi!
