Easing Into A Viennese Evening In Spring

The Emperor's Palm House
Its windows still reflecting
remnants of the evening's sunlight

The Equestrian Statue
Prince Albrecht riding
away from his Albertina Palais
into the sunset

Magnolia Blossoms
in what was once the emperor's
private garden,
reluctant to let go of
the day's glow

A Plane Tree
in its spring finery

Magnolia Branches
reaching into the spent sky,
the steeple of St. Augustine
fading into the distance

  1. Happy Easter Merisi, I wish I was spending Easter in Vienna.

Your last photograph looks like a Japanese screen, I love the way you have caught the bird in flight.

  4. Merisi, how beautifully soft your Vienna is today. Such gentle light with spring veritably bursting through.

Thank you for your comment and friendship. I have been in severe pain lately, I have looked in on your blog but at times could not get my brain into gear to leave a comment.

Have a wonderful Easter with all the beauty of spring all around you.

    Alles Gute, Arija

  5. Thank you, Vicki!
Today it is back to all blue skies,
and I am contemplating an early escape from the desk.
At least, I am thinking about it .... ;-)

    Arija,
I am so sorry to hear that you have not been well!
Please do not worry about leaving comments, as much as I enjoy reading them, I understand fully that we all have times when it is not possible to drop a note, for one reason or another. I do hope you are feeling better and will be able to enjoy a painfree Easter!

  7. Thanks for the magnolia blossoms! I grew up in the South and they are a wonderful part of my childhood memories - along with mimosa trees! You site is so peaceful and calming. And I so love the little poem...Emily Dickinson, sigh. Hope is the thing with feathers....
    Happy Easter Season to you!

  13. Sigh. The palm house is one of my favourite buildings in Vienna. We spent a lovely hour sitting in the garden next to the Palm House last summer. It makes me want to be back there! You lucky thing Merisi!
