onto the sun-gilded riparian band of the left shore,
nestled in a white-dusted wintry landscape
after the night's snowfall

WOW!
ReplyDeleteIt does look VERY COLD there indeed!
Weren't you brave to go out and shoot!
Or did you repost from last year the way I did :)
I Must face going to the pool or else - I ate too many Bahlsen dark chocolate covered bisquits yesterday :(
Thank you, Carol,
ReplyDeleteI had mistakenly labeled the pictures "2009" - I shot them yesterday morning! It was cold, but not too bad. My Duffle coat keeps me warm and toasty and it has extra-long sleeves that keep my hands from freezing (not to forget my boots - boy, have I gotten used to boots, never wore them in DC!).
Gorgeous! There seems to be some animals' footprints in the snow in the top picture?
ReplyDeleteLove the view of the river through the bare branches! You are so hardy to be out taking all these wonderful shots!
ReplyDeleteMaalie,
ReplyDeletethank you! :-)
I would guess that the animal footprints are either from dogs or that ubiquitous black bird with some grey feathers, a craw or something.
Vicki,
I am not afraid of the cold,
even though I have spent most of my life in the south!
As long as the sun is shining, nothing keeps me from venturing out. My worry is the camera battery, I try to keep it warm by holding on to the part of the camera with the battery. So far it has worked.
P.S. to Maalie:
ReplyDeleteOn my walk through the park yesterday morning, I encountered a swan swimming in the pond in the Stadtpark! I have pictures! :-)
Yes, you were brave to walk out and shoot this for us. We are in awe of this beauty.
ReplyDeleteI want to dine there sometime!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful winter's tour you've taken us on...and like you I prefer the scents of lemon verbena and lavender, I can have spring in the dead of the big freeze!

I love all the diagonals in the first image....its a sweeping viewpoint.
ReplyDeleteThe view down to the river with the sunlight on the snow is just superb.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the joy you give us all through your beautiful blog Merisi. Your Vienna is always so enticingly beautiful.
What a MARVELOUS fawn statue! How tall is it? I just love him!!
ReplyDeleteStay warm, Merisi.....

wonderful photos, all! i especially love the ones with the shadows cast in the snow.

I always love the wintery pictures on your blog. It's easy to focus on the dreary parts of winter, but your winter pics look so crisp and fresh :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks wintery but beautiful here--love these!
ReplyDeleteA further reason to return to walk that way. Beautiful set in scence.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful Wednesday for you.
Still got my eye on you!
ReplyDeleteHope 2010 is good to you.
Oh, I love the faun! Looks as though he might get up and take a wintry walk.
ReplyDeleteI love the photograph of The Fawn-In-Residence. Very Narnia.
ReplyDeleteThank you all!
ReplyDeleteI love the Faun too, the whole setting is quite enchanting (I am beginning to worry that they will call me off, what with my camera around that beautiful place), set in the middle of the park, above the Wien river. Too bad I won't be able to go there today: It has snowed all night, we live in winder wonderland again!
IF YOU EVER WONDERED WHETHER I READ COMMENTS ON OLDER POSTS:
Yes, I do, of course! Blogger allows me to set comment approval after three days, which means that I can pick up even on comments on posts that were published more than three days before! A wonderful thing, really.
Thank you for each and every comment! :-)
I just LOVE the river one and the statue is adorable!
