"And every year there is a brief, startling moment
When we pause in the middle of a long walk home and
Suddenly feel something invisible and weightless
Touching our shoulders, sweeping down from the air:
It is the autumn wind pressing against our bodies;
It is the changing light of fall falling on us."
Quoted from the poem
"Fall" by Edward Hirsch

That first shot is gorgeous -- would make a good book cover, I think!
ReplyDeleteO Vicki,
ReplyDeletethat would be wonderful,
a photo of mine, on a book cover!
I never thought of that possibility before. ;-)
Oh my gosh, the first picture is so cool! You must enter it somewhere!
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots, all. I especially like the first and the one with the Coke bottle.
ReplyDeleteI was (alas, very briefly) in Vienna long ago, in 1971. I wish I'd had more time to experience it.
Now that I've found your blog, perhaps I finally shall. :)
the pictures and words have dressed autumn into something truly fantastic!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures Merisi.
ReplyDeleteI love fall and these are such beautiful photographs of the changing light.
ReplyDeleteFirst shot IS gorgeous, but i love Deserted...
ReplyDeleteThe 1st image is gorgeous :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting this weekend :)
Your kind words made me smile.
For some reason the pictures won't load and I have waited quite a while.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I do love the quote.
Will try to come back later.
Dear Merisi,
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful photos to match the quote about "Fall" by Edward Hirsch!
The first photo is especially enchanting!!
Thank you for your kind comment today. It means much.

Merise, your beautiful photos never cease to amaze me!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your nice comment about Leaves of Grass. I am so glad I met you!
I also love those houses and walls covered by ivy.
Have a lovely week ahead!
I find it very interesting to read that poem as I say every year that I can actually feel the arrival and presence of Autumn. Everything changes in the air, the weight, the sound etc.
ReplyDeleteAutumn came here last week, and yes Barbara, I felt it–– actually it was like an embrace.
ReplyDeleteMerisi, your photos–– rich and always a pleasure--luv the coke bottle; and the head dress.
Fall confections...yum! I particularly love the light coming through the glasses in that last shot. You have such a wonderful eye.
ReplyDeleteWonderful!! Love the quote!! enJOY your day!!
ReplyDeleteYour photos are always a treat. I love the deserted coke bottle.. it speaks of days gone by.. at least around here. Always beautiful. Thanks for that.
ReplyDeletethis is my favourite time of the blogging year :) I love seeing all the Fall photos :)
ReplyDeleteYou are such a talented photographer. I really like the empty coke bottle. You have quite an eye.

ReplyDeleteI was in Kohlmarkt last week, was in Demel twice having a melange and an apple strudel. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on Hilary's Post of the Week mention. I remember how stunned I was by the beauty of the first photo in particular when I first saw this post. I was delighted to see your post noted at Hilary's. Merisi, you do have a way with words and a camera :)!
ReplyDeleteYour photos are so beautiful. Crystal clear.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on being mentioned in Hilary's POTW
Nuts in May
I am sorry I missed this on Sunday. And I fall in with the majority, that first photo is truly art, and I loved the empty table. So eloquent. Congratulations on your very well-deserved POTW!
ReplyDeleteA bottle of Coke never looked so good...bellisimo
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness Merisi, if only i could paint in words what you capture with your camera. A true artist. And I would have missed it without Hilary's POTW.
