ReplyDeleteThe same pictures appeared already on January 10, 2009, with a slightly different music selection.
The images are less than perfect. Like way too often, I only got a few minutes to shoot the pictures during may stay at this beautiful palace. I would not know of any direct connection to Haydn, I have not found any story about the master himself ever performing or visiting there. Still, walking through those rooms, I could not help but feel his spirit, remembering the one or other musical note from his work. Haydn, after all, had been born not too far from these rooms and enchanted gardens, he had taken his first breath in this region so full of history and fertile soil to not only his genius, but to so many others along the nearby Danube, to the west and east and to the north of south of it, over and beyond the borders of today's Austria.
There's something about drapery that is just cool. I'm serious. I love when artists can get the drape of clothes correct.
