Intermezzo Italiano

A Little Italy in Vienna
I Piatti del giorno sulla lavagna:
Minestrone
Gnocchi di patate con salmone ...
Who would not want to step right in?

Prosciutto Salumi Aglio
Temptation on strings

Le Bevande
Vini rossi. Vini bianchi
Amaro Averna ...
Looking up from the bar stool

Pomodori Rossi in un Cestino
Red tomatoes soaking up the sun

Antipasto
Prosciutto e Mozzarella di Bufala

I had come in for a cappuccino and a tramezzino,
but changed my mind when I spied
Grandmother's homemade bread on the counter:
Un piatto di antipasti it was,
with the best prosciutto I ever had outside of Italy and
that heavenly pane casareccio fatto dalla nonna.
