Your pictures are stunning. The ice does look like water and the picture of the children really catches the eye. Our ice is not clear like this and is snow covered anyway...no mistaking it for water. Happy New Year.
Absolutely stunning! And the kids just make it perfect! What fun! Hope you had a great day -- looks like it! Have a very Happy New Year! Thanks for sharing!
A blogger friend lost her husband suddenly last Sunday night. I thought it would be nice to go and leave a message for her on her blog...You may know her as 'mommanator' at grannies ramblings
Beautiful series. The ice looks so clear that I'm surprised it's thick enough for kids to play on. That's such a wonderful shot, but the last one is my favorite. Happy New Year.
Beautiful. Ice skating has been very popular here this Christmas, at least the first part of the holidays untill it started to snow heavily. Marta has been out, but I must confess it is many hears since I wore my skates.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, for all your kind comments, I enjoy reading them and promise to get back to all of you, after January 6th, when the last of my visitors leaves and I shall have a little bit more time!
The light in these pictures is unlike any that we have here. Wondering about the time of day these photos were taken.
Your prior two posts are also spectacular views of this time of year. Your eye has such a range, can see so much beauty, whimsy, fun, and also peaceful eternal truth.
I so look forward to returning here in this fine new year. xo
Magical! Makes me remember being 5years old and skating on a pond at West Point, New York with my mom....something we don't get to do in Texas :D ~Allie
Happy New Year Merisi! Is that you skittering about on the ice? Travels for 2009 have already started. Just got back from Spain after visiting younger daughter!
My goodness. Your ice is already strong enough to walk on. Actually I could have today gone out for a walk on the sea but it looked too slippery so I stayed on dry land. Before this it has been just too weak. I absolutely adore that last shot of yours. It just is so beautiful. Happy 2009 and be aware of weak ice.
Really awesome shots Merisi. Love the kids "walking" on water.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year friend.

Oh my gosh! The ice is thicker in Vienna than it is in my part of Canada!
ReplyDeleteAll the best in 2009!

ReplyDeleteThat must be some thick ice. I was surprised to see the kids on it as it's so smooth and clear. Awesome sun rays and reflections. Great captures.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to 2009!

ReplyDeleteWOW! You had me fooled. That so doesn't look like ice. Wait...maybe those are very special kids who can walk on water?
ReplyDeleteThe ice is so shiny that it looks like liquid, and like the others, I was amazed at the kids "walking on water." Wonderful.
ReplyDeleteLovely soothing grays and silvers. Love it! Hope you ushered in the New Year with peace and happiness.

Wonderful shots of a pure winter wonderland. Yhe children running on a perfect mirror are delightful.
ReplyDeleteI have thoroughly enjoyed catching up on your blog. Such beautiful and evocative pictures, and witty commentary.
ReplyDeleteNice to see those children playing on the ice but I hope they are aware of the danger of thin ice caused by swimming animals.
Thank you, thank you, thank you,

All beautiful but there's something about the third photograph that is particularly appealing to me. It's enigmatic!
