Beyond the Gray

Angels
on the Musikverein's roof
the night Alfred Brendel played,
one more time.

Down, at the Museum,
Red umbrellas invite visitors
to spite the rain and venture over
to the new Orangerie exhibition rooms.
Lower Belvedere

A Giant Red Peach
Hovers over Rotenturmstrasse,
almost touching St. Stephen's Cathedral.
You say this is not a peach?

An Exhausted Santa
Recapitulating his lists.
Where are cookies and milk?

The Merry-Go-Round
Going round and round,
Into the night,
Merrily, merrily,
Life is but a dream!

  4. "...and the painted ponies go up and down; we're captive on a carousel of time; we can't return, we can only look behind from where we came, and go round and round and round in the circle game." (-Joni)

  7. I absolutely must have that exhausted Santa come to my house, so I could reassure him that "this too shall pass." He is fabulous and if they sold him in my town, I would have to adopt him in triplicate.
