Midsummer Afternoon

Meanwhile the mind, from pleasure less,
Withdraws into its happiness --
The mind, that ocean where each kind
Does straight its own resemblance find;
Yet it creates, transcending these,
Far other worlds, and other seas;
Annihilating all that's made
To a green thought in a green shade.

  4. A wonderful mosaic of colour.

    I am trying to work out the fiddle head; it looks as if it might be an unfolding fern, but on the other hand it could be an ornate corner of a bedstead?

  11. what a beautiful post...as usual...when I read that you had 3rd degree burns on your arms from the pressure cooker, I was so upset...that is what always scares me, and infact will not let anyone stay in the house with me while I use it, lol...hugs to you for such a delightful post and lovely images for me to carry in my mind

    Those flowers are out of this world, aren't they? ;-)

    MAALIE:
    This is a beautifully turned fence post, holding up a simple chain link fence (I have a weakness for fiddlehead forms, I find them endlessly fascinating).

    RADIOGIRL:

  20. There's something so touching about the first photo.
    The quiet, unassuming lichen growing on the garden gate (that is what I am looking at, isn't it?)
