May I offer the observation that the cloud formation in the top photo is quite an unusual type called mammatus. I have only seen it a couple of time before. It's name is obviously to do with 'milk' and derives from the structures looking like cow's mammary glands hanging down.
ReplyDeleteUsually it immediately precedes a thunderstorm and caused by cold down drafts of air within the cumulo-nimbus cell.
May I copy it?
I love a good thunderstorm with lots of rain. Unfortunately we're still having snow here in Minnesota!
