  2. And to you as well! Did you do the traditional turkey-dinner thing?

  3. How much does it cost to get a turkey overseas, anyway? Or cranberry sauce....

  4. BRIAN,
I had an organic turkey delivered to my door, it weighed 20 lbs., and cost 90 Euros. I remember paying around 60 Dollars for the same in Washington, without the home delivery though. :-) Ocean Spray (!) fresh cranberries were 3 Euros
the bag at the Naschmarket (and now also at the supermarket next door). I got a super bargain on the sweet potatoes this year, a bit more than 6 lbs. for 7 Euros. They were imported from Israel. Two years ago, at my first Thanksgiving here in Vienna, I searched far and wide, until finally finding a very tasty garnet variety at the healthfood store two tram stops from my home. There are many American families here, but apparently most of them have access to a PX-store or the like or special diplomatic channels, so demand for typical American consumer products is not great enough to make it worthwhile for grocery stores to stock a wide selection. It's getting better though: Our Merkur supermarket two blocks away now stocks Chips Ahoi cookies and Nestle chocolate cookie dough! Can Kraft marshmellows be far behind? :-)
