Autumn
Emily Dickinson
The morns are meeker than they were,
The nuts are getting brown;
The berry's cheek is plumper,
The rose is out of town.
The maple wears a gayer scarf,
The field a scarlet gown.
Lest I should be old-fashioned,
I'll put a trinket on.

how lovely your november 1st was...what gorgeous pictures!
ReplyDeletei should have taken my camera with me today to share some photos with YOU! enjoy your weekend, sugar! ;-)
Oh Merisi! Can I say again just how much I loooove autumn? I adore this season. The colours in your photos are just spectacular. You have managed to capture the very thing I love about the season. Bravo! :)
ReplyDeleteReally wonderful shots. We've started winter over here.
ReplyDeleteI really like the man-made nature and nature shot. Great composition and tones. Happy November.
ReplyDelete"the rose is out of town".....well, if I know you right Merisis, your roses are not all totally out of town yet :-)
ReplyDeleteSAVANNAH:
ReplyDeleteThank you! :-)
I sure hope that next time you go for a stroll, you do take your camera. I would love to see photos of your beautiful city. Any chance you'd walk by Mercer house?
;-)
ANN:
Thank you so much! :-)
C'EST MOI:
Yes, I have been following the progress of Father Winter over in your part of the world. Very interesting to observe, but I am glad we still get a breather or two before snow arrives here.
PHOTOWANNABE:
Thank you! :-)
I am glad you noticed the subtly similarities between the iron works and the twigs, I found them startling.
BRITT-ARNHILD:
Yes, my dear astute reader and observer, - voice lowered to a whisper -, they are still out there, hiding from dear Emily. ;-)
Wonderful pictures as always ..
ReplyDeleteI love the one with the bench , looks both so romantic and sad
Thank you for sharing autumn. This is the season that I am most homesick for the North.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful harmonious view of the city (final pic)
ReplyDeleteThe lady sphinxes are very cheeky. Look plump breasts and buttocks. Tsk, tsk,
And I see the cranes.
I was going to ask what IS that building between the viewer and St Stephen's - then I realized it's probably the spire being refurbished. It's nice when they make the building works harmonious too.
Yes, with perfect pictures day becomes more beautiful. :-)
ReplyDeleteA beautiful day. Beautiful colors.

MELANIE:
ReplyDeleteThis bench and the twigs right beside it made me reflect on the artist who created the design. Was he sitting on another bench, in front of a hedge with twigs like these?
HEXE:
You must feel the absence of fall keenly, having grown up in the beautiful Northeast!
SALLY CRAWFORD FROM LONDON:
You are right, it is the spire of St. Stephan's Cathedral, hidden behind scaffolding. Have you noticed the hills beyond, parts Vienna Woods, parts vineyards?
CUCKOO:
ReplyDeleteThank you! :-)
PAZ:
Yes, it was a splendid autumn day,
I truly enjoyed it.
Oh, indeed, I am so envious of the hills: a city woodland; city vineyards . . . (faints)
ReplyDeleteOurs are all built on - Hampstead and Highgate.
Next time I am up there I will photograph the city lying underneath.
The ones in the central city are built on as well (Cornhill, Ludgate Hill, etc.) but you can still 'feel' them under your feet.
I love all those golden leaves against that amazingly deep blue sky!
ReplyDeleteSally Crawford from London:
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to see your city vineyard photos! There's actually a very small plot of vines left in the city center, cultivated by a vintner from the hills further out.

Tara, it was one of those gorgeous autumn days I can never get enough of, truly uplifting. :-)
