@ Meg: The reason that the "bench with a view" is not accompanied by pots of plants may have to do with the strong winds that hit Vienna every so often. The location of the bench seems quite exposed to them. The roof gardens are usually surrounded by low walls which offer some protection.
Interesting concept - roofs of Vienna. I like the bench on the roof, also, but I might even put a pot plant until it gets too cold.
