Vienna's Café Sperl

"Here there is nothing
I have taken from you

so I begin with memory
as old songs do

in this café
against the night

in this villa refrain
where we collect the fragment

no longer near us
to make ourselves whole ... "

  5. I think that mirror keeps a copy of everyone who drinks coffee in front of it. It plays those memories back at night in a ghostly light with eerie music.

I loved your earlier post with the shadows and the big bronze bottom at the fountain side gave me a bit of a giggle.

  14. Cafe Sperl was always my favorite when I lived in Vienna. And I'll be back there in two weeks to visit a sick relative. A sad occasion but I'm also eager to wander my old neighborhoods...
